Abstract

The novel organometallic polyhydride 2, formally a ReVII derivative, is surprisingly formed upon reaction of the ReV complex 1 with LiAlH4 followed by careful methanolysis. Complex 2 has a fluxional structure at room temperature; at lower temperatures, the complex has a rigid, pentagonal‐bipyramidal geometry. (Figure Presented.)
