Abstract
The detailed examinations of correlations between the mixing of fuel and air, flame structure, heat transfer in the furnace and the formation of pollutant emissions for a dual fuel burner of average capacity are described. The question of single or multiple burner operation was discussed with respect to emissions and heat transfer. For natural gas operation, valuable information about the flame structure for different modes of admixing the fuel was obtained by using optical measuring methods at a scaled down burner model. The results were experimentally verified by temperature measurements at the original burner.
