Abstract

Test signals out of pure tones and narrow bands of noise, respectively, give almost identical thresholds of hearing. For monaural presentation at high frequencies threshold differences of about 3 dB are noticed; however for individual observers values up to 14 dB occur. For binaural presentation the threshold differences diminish to 0. 4 dB, with maximal values of 4 dB for individual observers.
