Abstract

Food can trigger allergic skin reactions, either directly or through the air. The skin diseases which are most frequently influenced by food intolerance are atopic eczema and chronic urticaria. It is often difficult and tedious to identify the responsible food intoleranee. The gold standard for this is the double blind, placebo-controlled oral food provocation test (DBPCFC). In general, the diagnosis should be followed by therapeutic advice from a nutritional expert with experience of allergology.
