Abstract

The 'dermatologist's proceeding' is a method for early diagnosis which has been established only a comparatively short time ago by accident insurance carriers. It is not necessary here to refer to the initial difficulties of the new procedure. Anyway each new proceeding needs a long starting time. The references to other procedures for early diagnosis as for tuberculosis or cancer may comfort us a little, for here also one had later on to revise the opinions on the starting time. As to the 'dermatologist's proceeding', however, one can after a short time point out important aspects, gain new knowledge, shift or activate focal points of research. It is possible to help at once where help is necessary: the patient. Thus it may come to a smaller increase of the number of these diseases or even to a stagnation or reduction of them. In the medical and dermatological occupational health field, a really promising step forward has been taken in which we should energetically support the carriers of legal accident insurance. This concerns all non dermatologist physicians with regard to sending the patients in question to the dermatologist in order to initiate the 'dermatologist's proceeding', and the dermatologists themselves regarding the drawing up of the 'dermatologist's report', the carrying out of the tests for allergy in this connection and the fixing of a date for a second referral of the patients to the dermatologist.
