Abstract
The mechanisms and problems of combined hand injuries due to heat and the simultaneous effect of pressure, 'ironing machine injuries', are described. The guiding principles of treatment are set out: Hospital treatment in a special department; prophylaxis of edema; early movement exercises; and prevention of secondary healing wounds.
