Abstract

We summarize and discuss aspects of chiral dynamics and their implications for changes of hadron structure in a nuclear medium. This includes issues such as the density dependence of the chiral (quark) condensate, the related appearance of strong scalar mean fields in nuclei, the stability of the pion mass against compression in dense matter, and recent explorations of s-wave kaon-nuclear interactions.
