Abstract

By reaction with the aurating agents [Au(PMe₃)]BF₄/O₃SCF₃ or [{(Me₃P)Au}₃O]BF₄ in molar ratios 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3, sodium methylthiolate NaSMe is converted into dinuclear [Au(PMe₃)(SMe)]₂ 1, tetranuclear [{MeS[Au(PMe₃)]₂}₂X₂] (X = BF₄ 2a, O₃SCF₃ 2b) and the novel trinuclear [MeS{Au(PMe₃)}₃][O₃SCF₃]₂ 3 complexes.
