Abstract
The Berlin Centre for Health Economics Research (BerlinHECOR) started its work on the development, organisation and implementation of a comprehensive performance assessment for the German health system in July 2012. The Centre uses four criteria for the performance assessment: public health, health inequalities, efficiency of health services and responsiveness. Aim is to provide an empirical basis for an evidence-based health policy in Germany.
