Abstract

The prevention of type 2 diabetes in women with insulin-treated gestational diabetes is an important medical and economic target. The 50-g glucose screening was included in the maternity guidelines. It facilitates the diagnosis of gestational diabetes in order to allow a quick intervention and prevent complications. Because of the lack of secondary prevention the Diabetes Research Group led by Prof. Anette-Gabriele Ziegler initiated PINGUIN study (postpartum intervention for gestational diabetes with insulin therapy).
