Abstract

The article evaluates the two management policies of 'changing arable land into grassland' and 'extensifying intensively used grassland' from an economic point of view. Considering indicators such as land use, stocking density and rate of impact of farms, possible adaptation methods of farms are discussed and resulting losses calculated. The implementation of the corresponding agro-environmental measures would lead to a reduced aggregate farm income of approximately 1.5 million EUR per year. The average losses per hectare would reach about 460 EUR.
