Abstract
The expected experimental data of MOMS-02 on the German Spacelab D2 mission will be used for a broad range of geoscientific objectives. The simultaneous acquisition of high spatial resolution multispectral and stereo data by one system enables a real combination of thematic and topographic information, thus considerably improving the verification and interpretation of dynamic changes of the Earth's surface by means of remote sensing. The paper gives an overview on the planned methodological and application-oriented investigations in various test areas and, upon the basis of simulated data-sets, demonstrates the improved capabilities of MOMS-02 as compared to existing sensors such as SPOT and Landsat-TM. -Authors
