Abstract

Endometrial cancer is one of the frequent tumors of the gynaecological malignancies. Due to the clear definition as different histomorphological stages during carcinogenesis, they are an appropriate model in studying tumorigenesis. Microsatellite instability is one of the genetic alterations observed in 20-30% of endometrial cancers. However, with the exception of PTEN alteration cyto- and molecularcytogenetic data revealed a heterogenous picture. In ovarian cancer molecular cytogentic analysis revealed a more homologue picture providing several entry points for the isolation of genes involved in the development and progression of ovarian cancer. Due to the absence of specific symptoms in the onset of the disease and the lack of an effective early detection method, tumor markers for the early detection and as prognostic factors of ovarian cancer are required. In respect thereof p21, p53 and kallirein 11 are promising factors for the future.
