Abstract

In 1955 Zollinger and Ellison postulated a causal relationship between recurrent ulcer disease, gastric hypersecretion, and non-B-cell pancreatic endocrine tumors. 1 Like other pancreatic endocrine tumors, gastrin-producing tumors are a challenge for both the clinician and the patient. A precise knowledge of pathophysiology, and clinical and epidemiological aspects of the disease is needed for a successful management of these tumors.
