Abstract
Microvascular surgery has made it possible to reimplant fingers and hands. Reports about full recovery percentages of up to 88% are given by reimplantation centres. There are however as yet insufficient data on later functional results. A differentiated evaluative program is required for the assessment of function recovery; this program should include both subjective and objective criteria. Sofar no uniform opinion on which comparison studies can be made has been established. Because of this it appears useful to apply uniform standardised conditions to function recovery assessment. Therefore, proposals are presented for the function assessment of fingers and hands after reimplantation.
