The most common clinical manifestation of FTD is a profound alteration in personality and social conduct. In the present contribution we summarize the current evidence on epidemiology, aetiology, and risk factors of frontotemporal dementia. Clinical symptoms and course are described. Guidelines for diagnosis are provided and treatment options are discussed.
