Abstract
A discussion covers the modern research and development organization of Süd-Chemie Group, focusing on one of the lead sites the Catalysis Laboratory in Heufeld (Germany); examples of recently developed or improved catalyst systems; how research is performed at Süd-Chemie, i.e., close collaboration with partners and customers; an excurse concerning the current and future situation of the world's energy resources, leading to the production of synthesis gas and hydrogen via the utilization of synthesis gas for the synthesis of methanol und Fischer-Tropsch products; examples of new avenues for downstream products including of modern R&D strategy in heterogeneous catalysis. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the DGMK/SCI-Conference "Synthesis Gas Chemistry" (Dresden, Germany 10/4-6/2006).
