Abstract
Code division multiple access (CDMA) and time division multiple access (TDMA) based technologies were studied to develop 3rd generation mobile radio systems. The Research and Development in Advanced Communications Technologies (RACE) II projects CODIT and ATDMA were created based on direct sequence CDMA and advanced TDMA techniques which were validated with trial systems. These comparison between CODIT and ATDMA air interfaces were carried out, indicating that there was no difference between these concepts with respect to performance. The methodology used for evaluation of multiple access schemes and two hybrid schemes were discussed.
