Abstract
Temporal partial masking, i. e. the reduction of the loudness of impulses by sounds following in a short temporal distance, was measured for the case of tone impulses and subsequent broadband noise. The loudness of the temporally partially masked tone impulses is determined by comparison with unmasked impulses of same duration and frequency. Two models are proposed, based on temporal masking patterns and loudness-time patterns, respectively.
