Abstract

The efficient and effective management of changes, concerning the product as well the production system, is a key factor for the success of manufacturing companies in today's turbulent environment. Over the recent years, several scientific works have been published, presenting structured procedures for handling of changes. However, the existing approaches often describe the procedure at a high level of abstraction and hardly offer support for change-specific adaptation. In order to assist companies in the efficient and individual application of the developed approaches, this paper aims to introduce a practice-oriented concept for the flexibilisation of the change management process. This is achieved with the help of a process tailoring approach based on characterization of changes.
