Abstract

Using the ARGUS detector at the e⁺e^- storage ring DORIS II at DESY, we have obtained the first evidence for B meson decays into _χc mesons. The inclusive branching ratio for the decay B → _χc X was measured to the (1.05±0.35±0.25)% assuming no _χc2 production. In addition, four candidates for the exclusive decay B^± → _χc1K^± have been observed, corresponding to a branching ratio of (0.19 ± 0.13 ± 0.06)%.
