Abstract
This paper presents our solution for an intensity-based patient registration using preoperative CT data and intraoperative fluoroscopy images. For the task of optimization, a particular technique (“pattern search”) is introduced and we show that this technique is very powerful indeed, especially regarding speed without significant loss of accuracy. Furthermore, several methods for the fast generation of digitally reconstructed radiographs (DRRs) are described. In terms of an objective evaluation, we made use of a freely available gold standard data set.
