Abstract
The constructional methods using concrete surfaces contained in the RStO 86 standard, which was introduced this year by the Federal Ministry of Transport, have, according to current practical experience, reached a stage of technical maturity and have proved to be economical. Under certain circumstances, however, an alternative form of carriageway construction with thick concrete surfacing on an unbound base course can be advantageous. The structural requirements for this are pointed out and recommendations made.
