Abstract
A 56-year-old patient presented with a large ulcerating tumor with contact bleeding in the left breast (diameter 15 cm). The tumor was inoperable at the time of the diagnosis due to thoracic wall infiltration. Treatment with bevacizumab and paclitaxel resulted in 50% tumor regression. There was no longer any clinical evidence for chest wall infiltration. After three treatment cycles with the combination and a further cycle of chemotherapy, breast amputation and axillary dissection could be performed without complications. Histological examination revealed R1 status in the dorsal direction and tumor-free margins elsewhere. Radiotherapy to the chest wall was given. The patient experienced no severe side effects during therapy.
