Abstract
Experimental results in transonic flow past thin flat wedge are given. The aim of the experiments was to determine the unknown constant of the asymptotic representation at large shock distances as well as the solution at small shock distances predicted by the transonic similarity law. The flow field around thick plates and slender wedges was measured to determine the conditions for a good approximation with regard to the theoretical model of a plate without thickness. With respect to these restrictions the asymptotic solution and the similarity solution for small shock distances are experimentally determined.
