Abstract

The paper presents experiences with operation of a parallel code used in ABB for 3D simulation of electric fields which is a part of design of high voltage equipment. The parallelization of this code is based on PVM communication software operated in heterogeneous workstation clusters including multiprocessor machines. The aspects of efficiency, reliability, cluster configuration and ease of use in a typical industrial environment are discussed.
