Abstract

The trioxorhenium complex 3—lemon yellow, air‐stable, crystalline—is surprisingly formed on photolysis of the tricarbonylrhenium complex 1 in THF. In complete absence of oxygen the initial product is 2, which (unlike analogous manganese complexes) is oxidized by air to 3. (Figure Presented.)
