Abstract

Gear noise is a dominant topic in NVH issues of high-speed transmissions for e-mobility. Full gearbox simulations are conducted in the prototype design stage for elaborate transmission and gear design before any measurement results are available. A significant challenge is determining the correct acoustical behaviour of a gearbox with all relevant influence factors. In addition to the gearing itself, the main influencing factor is primarily a precise representation of the shaft-bearing system. A well-established dimension for gear design optimization is the loaded transmission error (LTE). TE is evaluated by a complete gearbox deformation analysis of several meshing positions. A frequency analysis of the resulting mesh deformation over the path of contact yields excitation amplitudes for the mesh order and multiples. The necessary gearbox simulation includes contact analysis of the deformed teeth. It must consider the effect of extended tooth contact by tip contact, which is a complex and time-consuming problem. An efficient algorithm for this challenge is required as the basis for optimization possibilities. This paper suggests an adequate algorithm that deals with these challenges and relies on a fast-analytical approach. This enables a TE calculation of high precision in a short time. An example calculation is presented, which grasps the effect of tooth microgeometry down to a submicrometric scale.
