Abstract
Pro Gesund is a project funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, which aims at preserving and improving the current status of animal health in Bavarian dairy herds. In addition to the long-term goal of providing health measures for breeding values and thus breeding healthy stock, the project also has a direct benefit to the farmers and veterinarians involved. By combining veterinary diagnoses, udder health data, farmers' observations and health related milk recording data, a holistic view on the individual animal's health or the herd health is achieved. The project covers several areas of animal health. In the present study first analyses in anonymized form have been conducted looking at the occurrence of calf diseases and the association with dam vaccination.
