Abstract
Nutrition science and nutritional medicine have strong joint roots in biosciences. With many examples it can be shown, that both disciplines can profit by close cooperation. Nutrition science can effort an important contribution to the prevention of nutrition related diseases by the propagation of wholesome nutrition in the population. With well established methods of nutrition science and new technologies like computer-based diet records, use of stable isotopes or magnetic resonance spectroscopy and molecularbiology research will open to nutritional medicine a wide area of successful operations to treat the very common and important nutrition related diseases.
