abstract = "Future vehicles and mobility concepts promise more quality of life during the journey through new and innovative interior approaches. However, there is a risk of suffering from motion sickness. Recent studies have shown that a reclined seating position reduces the incidence of motion sickness. Since head dynamics play a central role in this process, a simulation model was built to quantify the change in body movement due to reclined backrest angle in longitudinal acceleration stimuli. Furthermore, the potential of reclined posture in vehicles was investigated with respect to comfort. For this purpose, 16 subjects took part in a within study on the Ride Simulator of Mercedes-Benz AG. Here, the participants experienced synthetic and measured vehicle signals to evaluate subjective comfort with respect to potential secondary tasks in an automated driving mode.",
