Abstract

The growth of the buffer layer system consisting of TiN and MgO matching the magnetite lattice constants and the epitaxial growth of Fe3O 4 were discussed. The good crystalline quality of the multilayers and the small roughness of the interfaces were verified. Due to their high Curie temperature and predicted large spin polarization magnetite thin films on Si substrates were highly interesting for potential applications in spintronics.
