Abstract

Starting with Toyota, car manufacturers were pioneers for the implementation of Lean Production Systems (LPS) in the last decades. The integration of the topic "avoidance respectively reduction of energy waste" was not of great concern in LPS so far. But in a time affected by the shortage of resources, this topic becomes more and more important nowadays. The survey presented in this article shows the current significance of energy waste in LPS of car manufactures in Germany. Copyright Springer-VDI-Verlag GmbH & Co. KG, Düsseldorf.
