Abstract

Since the formulation of the Agile Manifesto in 2001, agile methods have become a compelling way in software projects. Inspired by the successful adoption of agile practices in small projects, many software practitioners are increasingly engaged in adopting these methods in large projects and companies. This doctoral thesis offers the first systematic exploration of the state of the art in large-scale agile development and addresses research themes that have not been adequately investigated: scaling frameworks, patterns, and collaboration between architects and agile teams.
