Abstract

Using a pyrotechnical pill, Winter sports equipment can be electrically released and removed, where mechanical opening is impossible because of missing torque between binding and equipment, e.g., at avalanche and tree-well situations or at ski base jumping with a wingsuit. Since the pill driven binding opening is very fast (∼1 ms), it may also be advantageous at a ski downhill racer accident.
