Abstract
The various types of slab track laid as an alternative to classic ballast track have been widely debated. They need to be seen in the light of experience to date with the high-speed lines on ballast track in operation at home and abroad. Slab track is best able to meet the demands made by raising speeds from 200 km/h to 300-330 km/h, use of linear eddy current brakes, and the routing of lines alongside existing motorways, which in difficult terrain entails relatively small radii and steep gradients.
