Abstract
Efficient and effective strategic product-and process-planning gets more and more important for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) to assure sustainable success in business. It is the objective of the cooperative research project "Strategic Product-and Process-Planning (SPP)" to develop and provide instruments that especially fit to the needs of SMEs supporting them to process a company and situation specific strategic planning. This approach introduces an instrument that suggests different strategic directions as starting points for strategic planning in certain business areas. The innovation cube allows arranging these strategic directions concerning the degree of innovation in the fields of market, product and technology. To support the implementation of the identified strategic directions a procedural model was developed that consists of three steps. The procedural model and its different steps will be introduced and demonstrated by means of an example in the following paper.
