Abstract
An approach is presented to the nominal design problem of integrated circuits by interactive optimization. Proper values of designable parameters, such as supply voltages and stripe widths, must be determined, such that the requirements of circuit characteristics are fulfilled. The approach is based on a boundary curve used as an assessment criterion to visualize problem diagnosis and to control the interactive optimization process. A standardized representation of the boundary curve for graphic terminals is proposed. Characteristics and calculation methods of the boundary curve are treated.
