EFMI reference image database initiative: Concept, state and related work

Abstract

The Working Group on Medical Image Processing (WG MIP, www.efmi-wg-mip.net) of the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI) has started in 2002 an initiative with the aim to trigger the establishment of a reference image database for medical image processing research and development groups in order to support good validation and comparability of methods and systems. This paper summarizes the concepts of the initiative, describes its current state and presents an actual overview of related work.
