Abstract
Major cost drivers in the production of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) are the manufacturing steps that were previously done by hand. This article presents the latest research topics of the institutes iwb and Fraunhofer IWU/RMV, dealing with innovative and efficient solutions along the CFRP production chain. The focus is on the qualification of pure water jet cutting, on automated handling with integrated quality assurance, and on flexible clamping for machining.
