Abstract

The technique for deriving one-loop effective potentials in de Sitter background is illustrated on the example of the scalar field, where the answer can be derived through a "back of the envelope" calculation. We then summarize the according results for fermion and gauge boson loops, which can be applied to the background curvature-induced lifting of flat directions of the MSSM. While through Yukawa couplings, a lifting mass term of order of the Hubble rate arises, the lifting contributions due to the gauge couplings are found to cancel at leading order in the Hubble rate.
