title = "Drop of pressure of polymer melts in microscopic channels",
abstract = "As there are some obvious trends of miniaturization and individualization in producing business in general, these trends exist in plastics processing industry, too. Control of all production parameters, especially control of pressure, plays a decisive role influencing the quality of products produced with methods as injection molding and extrusion. When scaling down the size of products to microproducts control of pressure gets more and more important and difficult. This work investigates the possibility to apply the Bagley correction in micro-channels in order to determine loss of pressure in cross-section reductions without using micro pressure sensors and high-precision extrusion rheometers. The results show the suitability of the method when extruding polypropylene through a micro-channel with a diameter of 0.15 mm.",
