Abstract

Block-Markov coding and modulation methods for relay channels are presented that are motivated by coding methods for multi-input, multi-output (MIMO) channels. A partial decode-and-forward strategy is shown to achieve high rates. Using this strategy, protocols employing one, two, and three codes are discussed and compared. Low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes are designed and simulated for a protocol related to Diagonal Bell-Labs Layered Space-Time (D-BLAST).
