Abstract

An improved nonlocal resonance model used for the calculation of cross sections of electron dissociative attachment (DA) and vibrational excitation of molecular hydrogen by low-energy electrons impact was discussed. The model was based on ab initio data takes full account of the nonlocality of the effective potential for the nuclear motion. Very narrow peaks of 1meV width were observed in the dissociative attachment cross section for large values of the orbital quantum number J. The results show a long-lived H+H- orbiting resonance and is reflected in a narrow spike in the DA cross section near threshold.
