Abstract
Today, a Digital Terrain Model (DTM) has to meet much higher requirements than a few years ago. The contribution mentions these requirements and shows how they can be fulfilled. Subsequently, new fields of use for the DTM are described. The present situation is demonstrated by representative examples. -Author
