N2 - Functional neurological disorders (FNS) are complex bio-psycho-social disorders that, for this reason alone, require interdisciplinary, multimodal diagnosis and treatment. Even though there are now more and more dedicated treatment options, the overall care situation is far from adequate, if only because FNS run counter to the usual organization of medical care, in which responsibilities separated according to specialist disciplines continue to shape thinking and action in everyday clinical practice. If anything is to change, the establishment of further decentralized clinical resources, the development and implementation of integrative clinical working models, interdisciplinary training and continuing education, and accompanying research are of essential importance - as is networking of all initiatives among themselves, (supra)regionally and internationally. What can be done on the way to an appropriate care of FNS on site - under active inclusion of the respectively given clinical, but also institutional and healthcare policy realities on site - and what needs to be done, will be illustrated by the example of an inpatient and an outpatient treatment model.
