Abstract

Pathologies of the scapulothoracic joint often result from muscular dysfunction due to pathologies of the glenohumeral or acromioclavicular (AC) joint and conservative treatment shows good results in most of these cases. Core stability and the static scapular setting have to be recovered first before dynamic scapula control can be re-established. Surgery has to be performed in only a few cases and is based on an individual decision-making depending on the indications. This can be done by arthroscopic surgery, muscular transfer or even arthrodesis in seldom cases of irreversible nerve injury.
