Abstract

A Fuzzy Logic Controller is used to control the shaft speed of a small turbine engine. A feed-forward signal as a function of the shaft speed is used to scale the controller output. This paper outlines the development of the controller, its simulation and final testing with the engine on the test bench. The parameters of the fuzzy logic controller and the scaling factor function are optimized using genetic algorithms. An in-house developed electronic control unit along with a small turbine engine is used to test the algorithms.
