Abstract

In this paper a method for calculating symmetrical components of line sections based on network impedance measurements is presented. The calculation is first validated using measured values from the low-voltage network laboratory of Technische Universität München and then transferred to measurements from real low-voltage networks. The calculated results are compared to commonly used, theoretically derived line parameters for different return conductor variants. With the knowledge gained from measurements, possible variations in the expected zero-sequence system for different network classes (suburban, village, rural) are discussed.
