N2 - The design expressions of an indirect matrix converter (IMC) and a Δ-Switch IMC are discussed in this work based on the specifications of a 10 kW motor drive system with 1.2 kV SiC power semiconductor devices. The conduction and switching losses models for both topologies are presented to be used in the dimensioning. The ΔIMC leads to a peak efficiency of 97.7% at a switching frequency of 20 kHz with power density of 2.88 kW/dm3.
